Fish/Chicken Porridge
This is the famous porridge stall in Maxwell market and could be one of the best cantonese styled porridge that I've eaten so far. Note that the queue is long and be prepared to wait for at least 1/2 an hour during lunch time.
They serve fish and chicken porridge. Worth mentioning is the fish porridge as it is served with 3 different variety of fish meat; i.e. the usual fish meat, fish belly and fish head.
Don't be fool by the presentation as it does look plain with an ample mixed of ginger slices, spring onions, fried shallots, sesame oil, preserved radish (chye poh)and of course the main ingredient, fish or chicken. This stall is very generous in their fish slices but point to note is that if you order fish belly or fish head, you will have to be extra careful as there is alot of fine fish bones. It takes patience to pick out the bones from the porridge and if you are in a rush, I would suggest you go for the fish meat or chicken porridge instead. Children are not recommended to take the fish porridge due to sheer amount of fish bones.
The fish is very fresh and tender which is one of its selling point worth appraising. For cantonese styled porridge, do not expect to find any grains of rice in the porridge but instead it is laboriously boiled into a gruel which is simply delicious. Its like drinking soup yet filling, not just watery.

The raw fish slices (yu sheng) as the side dish is quite refreshing with a squeeze of lime in it and plenty of toppings.

It's highly recommended to those who loves a simple meal of cantonese styled porridge ->Reviewed by JC

Coffee/ Tea
The food we tried today is disappointing, hence we will not be reviewing any local food but instead we found a drink stall at the same food centre that sells very nice coffee and tea.
The coffee and tea are served in the traditional cermaic cup. The drinks are very fragrant and it tastes neither too sweet or too bland ->Reviewed by JC

Nasi Padang
This stall sells a whole range of dishes including mutton rendang, fried chicken, stingray, fried eggs, yellow curry vegetables and more. The eatery is really crowded during lunch so go there early.
I tried the mutton rendang, fried eggs and stir fried haricot beans with tofu. Cost me S$5.
The mutton rendang is tender, savoury, delicious and highly recommended. The fried eggs and stir fried haricot beans with tofu are just normal. However, for those who like chillie, the chillie sauce is pretty nice and quite spicy.
My collegue tried the stir fried bean sprout and chillie stingray which costs him S$7, so be prepare to pay a little bit more, maybe S$1.50 to S$2 more than the usual economic vegetable rice ->Reviewed by JC

Soya Beancurd
This beancurd although is not the most famous beancurd in Singapore, the texture is nevertheless, smooth and relatively soft. However, it is not those beancurd that melts in your mouth, literally. Overall, delicious
The S$0.80 serving is plenty and suffice for a hearty desert ->Reviewed by JC

Wanton Noodles
The noodles have a very springy texture and does not have an alkaline taste. The sauce and chillie is of the right mixture making it tasty.
The char siew is no ordinary pork meat but the famous pork armpits 不见天. It is thick, nicely barbecue and richly caramelised . But the wanton are just ok, nothing to shout about.
I personally felt that what makes this wanton noodles stand out is the texture and taste of the noodles. However, the queue is relatively long so be prepared to wait -> Reviewed by JC

Fish Soup with White Rice
This stall only sells 2 types of set meal; i.e. black white set meal or white set meal.
Each set meal consists of a bowl of fish soup, rice and chillie. Extra chillie costs additional
S$0.20. Black = fried fish, White = cooked fish (non-fried).

The stall operates from 11:12am to around 2pm and so don't go there after 2pm. It is closed on every Wednesday and weekends. Go early as the queue gets relatively long during lunch.

The soup is tasty but slighty heavy taste for me and definitely not the MSG type of soup. The fish slices and vegetables are ample. The white rice is fragant although it looks oily but it doesn't taste oily at all. There is no wine or milk added to the soup unlike others. Personally, I prefer fish soup with wine added -> Reviewed by JC

Curry Chicken
The curry smell fragrant, not too spicy and is tasty. The chicken meat is relatively tender. Served hot with either bread or white rice, it is the perfect combination. The curry is neither too thick or too diluted and the coconut milk does not overwhelm the flavor.
This stall serves curry with either fish head, chicken, pork ribs, mutton or vegetables -> Reviewed by JC
